Background

Empowering Second Hand: Navigating the Move Online for Resale Businesses

Merchants grapple with merging online and offline operations, managing diverse customers (sellers and buyers), and handling one-of-a-kind, often challenging-to-identify stock. This complexity, coupled with manual labor, eats at the profit margins. The founders of "ReRobe", a high-end second-hand concept in Stockholm, personally felt these challenges. Wanting a change, they envisioned Ribbn, akin to a Shopify for the resale market — a platform that streamlines the selling process for both online and brick-and-mortar resale merchants. They teamed up with Above to bring this concept to life.

Ribbn digital platform

Leveraging RFID technology, the Ribbn platform becomes both accessible and actionable.

Enabled by RFID technology, made accessible and actionable through the Ribbn platform. We designed a comprehensive resale experience customized for (r)e-commerce workflows for Ribbn. This allows merchants to integrate their offline shops and stock management into the digital realm, streamlining operations. By linking physical RFID tags — for item registration and tracking — with an AI-powered platform, they benefit from enhanced inventory and online store management.

The tech enabler

Resale businesses struggle with items that often get lost and are hard to find. As a result, staff spend valuable time sifting through piles and racks of inventory – time that could be spent elsewhere.

The RFID tag, attached on all garments and accessories, enables the staff to easily register, track and manage all their incoming and outgoing items, create collections for the webshop, and drops for social media. We have prototyped and tested the RFID enabled experience as a proof-of-tech with re-sale staff in their store and the RFID tag truly serves as the glue between the online and offline world.

Physical brand

A new resale icon: The Ribbn brand embodied.

The RFID tag is more than a tool; it's the physical representation of the Ribbn brand, distinct from traditional store-branded hangtags. Crafted from translucent material, these tags exude a futuristic vibe, showcasing the embedded RFID technology while maintaining a subtle visibility. Their design, including a pronounced upper left curve, mirrors the Ribbn logo, ensuring brand coherence. Emblazoned with the Ribbn wordmark in crisp white, they also display essential technical details. Adaptable to a variety of store items, from clothing to boxes, the Ribbn RFID tag is available as both a sticker and a reusable clip, ensuring secure attachment without damaging merchandise.

The Digital Platform: Elevated store management with a unified, seamless experience, optimizing both on- and offline sales.

Resale merchants grapple with merging online and offline operations, catering to distinct customer groups, and handling unique inventory. Ribbn is their digital nexus, transforming the (re)sale landscape into a streamlined, insightful journey.

The UI

Optimize your storefront and declutter your inventory.

Managing items — from getting them ready for pick up or shipping, completing attribution or knowing which ones are to be liquidated — is a crucial part in a merchant’s day. The dashboard reinforces item-related tasks visually by supersizing latest incoming items and guiding users to (how many) items and tasks that need to be taken care of.

AI powered

AI powered product attribution

Entering products from scratch and reviewing seller descriptions are a breeze — with a step-by-step attribution process and an overview that breaks down what’s been attributed and completes descriptions as you go.
